Student Host Information

You do not need to be available all day to be an effective student host, just focus on the following:

  1. Complete a student host request by emailing Ashton Decker at ashton.decker@usu.edu. In your request please include your first and last name, your A#, your first choice employer to host, and a second choice employer in case your first choice has already be taken. Registration for Student Hosts will open officially on February 14th, 2018. To see a current list of unavailable employers, click here.
  2. Dress and act professionally; be courteous and helpful.
  3. If possible, help setup and/or take down their display.
  4. Discuss your skills and the employer's needs for an internship or career position!

Some other helpful tips for student hosting include:

  • Familiarize the employer with the building.
  • Offer to cover the employer’s booth for a break or over lunch, if possible.
  • Make sure to have several copies of your resume to give to the employer you are hosting and other employers you meet throughout the day.
  • Research the company you are hosting by visiting their webpage.
  • Target other employers you have an interest in visiting at the fair.  A complete list of the employers attending is available on our web site.
  • Follow-up by email or letter with the employer you hosted and other employers you met at the fair.  It is also helpful to include another copy of your resume.

Student host sign-ups are on a first-come, first-served basis. Please view the list of available companies to host and then complete a student host registration request as depicted above. You will receive an email confirming the company you have chosen to host. Review the Fair Success Guide for more detail about successfully networking at the fair.

Badges will be available in the Employer Registration area the day of the event. Look for the student host table to pick up a map and familiarize yourself with your recruiter’s location.
